Maria Sharapova Loses At US Open
09.19.2010 NEW YORK-- At the US Open, tennis' last of four grand slams this year, Maria Sharapova lost to the top seeded Caroline Wozniacki of
Denmark 6-3, 6-4 in the fourth round. Maria was forcing play with very aggressive gourndstrokes but was unable to stay in longer rallies without
hitting errors on a number of points.
Maria Sharapova To Play At The US Open Tuesday
08.29.2010 NEW YORK-- Maria Sharapova has been seeded 14th for this week's US Open, the year's last grand slam at New York. In round one Tuesday
(night probably), Sharapova in round one takes on the unseeded Jarmilla Groth of Australia. Maria defeated Groth 6-0, 6-4 last year in Los Angeles in
their only prior WTA Tour meeting.
Maria could meet the top seeded Carolina Wozniacki of Denmark in the quarterfinals. Should she then advance, Maria could then face either the
third seeded American Venus Williams or the second seeded Kim Clijsters of Belgium in the final. The top ranked Serena Williams
of the USA withdrew from the tournament with a cut on her foot which required surgery July 15th.
Sharapova took her lone US Open singles title in 2006.

a qualifier in round one in a should be easly match. However Sharapova could meet 22nd seeded and former world number one Justine Henin in the third

Maria Sharapova Wins In Warsaw Return
05.20.2009 WARSAW-- Maria Sharapova won her first singles match since an October right shoulder surgery Monday at the Warsaw Open at
Warsaw, Poland. In the first round match, the Russian rebounded from a mid-match lapse to defeat Tathiana Garbin of
Italy 6-1, 6-7(6-8), 6-3.
Sharapova is playing the claycourt warmup in preparation for next week's French Open. Paris,
the second of four grand slams, is the only grand slam Sharapova has never won.
